Naiskuoro Timotei is over 30-year-old enthusiastic female choir from Loppi, Finland.

The choir was founded in 1987 when few singers of the local youth choir had grown older. Naiskuoro Timotei was led by Director cantus Pekka Perko until 2010, from there onwards the choir has been led by Master of Music Anneli Julén who is also the conductor of the chamber choir Gaudete! from Riihimäki, Hämeenlinna’s Male Choir and the Female Choir Association’s choir Louhi.

Today the choir has almost 40 singers from teenagers to somewhat older women. They all give the choir its unique sound and atmosphere.

Timotei’s repertoire varies from sacred to folklore and contemporary music emphasizing on women composers during the recent years.

Timotei has successfully taken part in competitions both at home and abroad including Estonia, Canada and Russia among others.

For example in 2013 the choir took part in Tampereen Sävel International Chorus Review where it got three silver stamps being the most successful Finnish female choir in the competition. Timotei took part in Canta al mar 2014 Choir Festival in Spain becoming second in three categories with golden stamps; sacred, folk and female choir music. In 2015 Timotei took part in 2nd European Choir Games in Magdeburg Germany becoming second in Mixed, Male and Female Choirs with silver medals and third in Folklore with golden medal. In 2016 Timotei competed in 1st International Baltic Sea Choir Competetition in Jurmala Latvia becoming 4th with 92,40 points. Most recently Timotei participated in 2018 in 9th Musica Eterna Roma – International Choir Festival and Competition winning both S3 Musica Sacra Female Choirs and A1 Female Choirs with requirements categories.

The choir also arranges at least two concerts every year giving much joy to the local community and beyond.
